What's New With Us
It took about a week longer than planned, but on June 14th, Vestri was back in the water. She got a ride down to the water from the storage yard on Jack’s Boat Yard’s new boat mover. Soon, she was put into the sling and lowered down to the ocean.
Captain Anne was back in her happy place, cruising the ocean waves! Knock on wood, all systems are running well.
In this month’s post, you’ll find videos on some of the upgrades I’ve done to the boat’s systems and about our first two new-to-us anchorages in Carrington and Evans Bay in the Discovery Islands.
So far, the weather hasn’t been stellar, with relatively cool temperatures, clouds, and some rainy days, which is often typical for June. But July is here, and things have been warming up with more sun.
This week has found us in familiar haunts from our previous RV summers over in Campbell River. While at Evans Bay, I developed a toothache in a rear molar. Rather than waiting and having it worsen, I visited a dentist in CR. Lucky since it was all rotten under the crown and needed to be extracted. It also gives a chance to top up our food and water supplies and pick up some mail.
I visited a new dentist called Pier Street Dental, located directly in front of Fisherman’s Wharf Marina. How convenient, a short stroll from the boat. Here is a photo I took of the view out the dentist’s window.
As I write this, it’s July 1st, Canada Day! As luck would have it, we are moored in the marina that is right beside where the fireworks show will be held. We’ll be able to sit up on our flybridge and take in the show up close. So I guess the dental problem has a silver lining.
PS. To all my American friends, Happy 4th of July, coming soon. Cheers!
