What's New With Us

It was a super busy May for Anne and me, so this is a bit of an abbreviated newsletter for you. We returned to Canada on April 30th and spent a few weeks on Vancouver Island. First, we driveway-surfed at my sister's place in Victora, then visited Anne's dad in Nanaimo. We camped nearby at Rathtrevor Provincial Park for four days. After that, we moved further up the island to the Courtney/Comox area, where we spent four days cleaning out our storage room., It's time to get rid of it and save some money on rent since the annual boat storage comes with a nice shed with power.

We stayed at a newer RV park called Puntledge, which is close to town, beside a river, and has huge campsites. It was handy, as we had lots of items to sort and multiple trips back and forth to the storage place to make. The park is currently being expanded and looks like a great base camp for large RVs when exploring the area.

After completing that task, we took the ferry from Comox to Powell River and drove up to Lund to camp near our boat at Sunlund RV Park. Below is a previous video I made about Sunlund. If you’re curious about the ferry cost, it was around $200 (145 USD) for our 45-foot-long rig. The crossing takes about 1 1/2 hours.

Since May 13th, we have been prepping our boat, Vestri, for this season's ocean adventures. She needed bottom work, de-winterizing, some maintenance, etc. Once the boat is launched, the RV and truck will be stored in its place.

We hired a person to do the nasty bottom sanding and paint task. I've been busy with the de-winterizing, various mechanical, plumbing, and electrical tasks, and loading our stuff back on it. Anne has been prettying up some of the teak brightwork and organizing things. There is lots to do!
