What's New With Us
October is a transition month from our boat to RV, so there is not much to report. Most of it was taken up by boat storage tasks and prepping the truck and trailer for the usual six-month trip south. We’ve also spent time catching up with our family.
Here is a video update.
October Update - 2024/ 2025 RVing Season has Begun!
Camping Links Mentioned:
It’s been a wet fall on the BC coast, with several early-season storms rolling through. This has been a good test for the old fifth-wheel trailer. Even though it sat in storage for 4 months while boating, all systems are working well, and there are no leaks! Knock on wood. :)
We plan to cross the border sometime next week and look forward to getting down into warm, sunny desert weather again. But, we’ll first endure some more damp weather and head to the southern Oregon coast to view the crashing waves during the upcoming King Tides from Nov 15th - 17th.
The southern region is home to Shore Acres State Park, an iconic spot to see the huge waves crash.
“Perched on top of an 80-foot cliff, Shore Acres State Park offers majestic views of the sea and is an ideal destination to watch for migrating whales and winter storm waves. Photographers and visitors come out in droves for winter storm watching each fall and winter, to witness the massive waves, some reaching up to 300 feet high, crashing into the sandstone bluffs.”
Stay tuned; we hope to get some great photos and video footage. Here is a video from springtime around six years ago showing the rugged coastal area we plan to revisit for the King Tides. Even without King Tides, the views were spectacular!

Thanks for subbing to my monthly newsletters. I appreciate it. Cheers! Ray
Hey Ray, I have similar plans for heading south, I'm looking for a spot to stop between Newport and Sacramento. I remember that you've overnighter at a few different spots, I wouldn't need any hookups, just wondering what you would recommend?
