Love Your RV & Boat! Newsletter - 02/25
Welcome to the February Newsletter. Warming up in the desert.
What's New With Us
Sad news to share this month. Anne’s dad passed away in late January. Thankfully, Anne could fly home in time to be with him in the final days. Here is a link to her touching goodbye blog post. Goodbye Dad – The Kid from Brechin
After a traumatic whirlwind start, it’s nice that we had previously planned to spend February at an RV park so I could work on the rig. While I putter away on projects, Anne has been able to relax and decompress as she deals with the loss.
The recent weather in southern Arizona has been terrific. Many sunny, warm days have been perfect for my maintenance jobs on the old Cougar trailer. One big one was removing the underbelly material entirely so I could repair a few nagging issues, clean/lube all three waste tank valves, and thoroughly inspect the systems.
While under there, I repaired small cracks on the galley and black tank, reorganized some wire routing, and replaced a clogged tank flusher spray nozzle. Overall, I’m pretty pleased with the state of things in there, considering the trailer is 14 years old.
I have videos showing the repairs, a tour of the systems under the rig, and how I reattached the underbelly material. Also, my latest task was removing several dried-out, cracked vinyl decals. I tried 3M adhesive remover with good results.
Whew, that was a lot of work! But an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Next week, I will pull the wheels, repack and grease the bearings, and inspect and adjust the trailer brakes. Then, I will finish things off with a wash and wax.
In between maintenance tasks, I’ve published several product install/review videos, with more in the pipeline. If you are missing the travel pictures and videos, don’t worry. We will soon begin our slow, meandering trek northward to return to BC by the end of June. The exact route hasn’t been decided yet; we'll have to see how the spring weather unfolds. Stay tuned!
