What's New With Us

September saw us slowly make our way from all the way up in Nimmo Bay in the northern part of the Broughtons back down to our base in Lund, BC.

A highlight of the journey was a visit to Glendale Cove on Knight Inlet, where we were able to view grizzly bears with cubs feeding on grasses in the river estuary.

Although the seas were mostly calm, the trip down was rather foggy. Sure glad our boat has radar! Also, being late in the season, there wasn’t too much boat traffic. The fog created some dramatic scenes as the sun would burn through later in the day.

Once we got back to Lund, we stayed at the marina for a couple of days. It gave us a chance to check on the truck and trailer at the storage yard and head into Powell River for groceries and laundry.

Once resupplied, we headed over to the nearby Desolation Sound to finish off our season. Being mid-September, the crowds had dwindled, and we were able to enjoy a nice little anchorage beside Roffey Island all to ourselves.

Little did we know that our time spent there was to be the last at anchor, as the weather was about to change. We did manage to squeeze in one last swim, though, on a warm, late-summer day.

The season wrapped up with a trip over to Campbell River for a dentist appointment for Anne and back to Lund to ride out an early autumn storm on the docks.

With the forecast for the end of September and into October continuing to look rather foul, we pulled the plug on the season on September 26th. We did one last day trip, but you can tell from the photos below that the fall weather pattern was taking hold.

We are back in our cozy RV now and camped at Sunlund RV Park close to the boat. I spent a few days moving things from Vestri back into the RV, and I will spend the next two weeks preparing the boat for winter. Another fun boating season is in the books!
