Love Your RV & Boat! Newsletter - 05/25
Welcome to the May Newsletter. Time to Prep the Boat for Summer!
What's New With Us
May flew by! We had a busy month, starting with a trip over to Vancouver. Anne needed to visit an oral surgeon to have a pair of wisdom teeth pulled that were beginning to be a problem. She wanted to get that dealt with before we headed off on the boat for the summer and have a flare-up. She has healed up nicely.
The first part of May also saw a flurry of enjoyable visits with family in Vancouver and on the island in Victoria and Nanaimo, allowing for a much-needed reconnect after the winter RV trip south.
On May 9th, we took the ferry from Comox to Powell River and were back at what now feels like our home base in Lund, BC, getting “Vestri” prepped for the season.
We’ve once again been staying at the Sunlund RV Park. Super convenient as it’s only a short drive to Jack’s Boatyard. Here is a post I did about the RV Park a few years back.
Thankfully, Vestri survived another winter very well. Having a good boat cover and some low-wattage heaters inside does a great job of keeping it clean and dry.
We’ve given ourselves 4 weeks to get the boat ready to go. There is always a lot of maintenance required on an old boat, plus we like to upgrade and improve things each year. Anne has been redoing some of the beautiful teak bightwork while I prepare the engine, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Working on the ship in the yard is fun, but at some point, you have to say good enough and go boating! The launch is scheduled in a week or so.
Plans are to conduct some short runs out of Lund Harbor to ensure everything is working well, then proceed slowly northwest. Last year, we explored as far as Port McNeill, spending some time in the Broughtons. We had a blast, so looking forward to returning and maybe even going a bit farther.
If you missed last season, here is the video playlist - Boating Summer 2024. We were able to anchor in many gorgeous locations and saw our fair share of sea life. Looking forward to another summer adventure on the ocean. Stay tuned!

Thanks for checking out my monthly newsletters. Much appreciated. Cheers! Ray
Ray, thanks for many, many years of fun, advice, and inspiration. Someday we are both going to have a herd of Beagles waiting for us on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.
You two are amazingly resilient. Thanks for the update and keeping us engaged in your adventures. Also, thank you for the excellent RV advice and repair/enhancemens you have shared over the years!
